A few memories and thoughts that didn't make the group journal but were part of mine:

Here...pull my finger...

"Oh Crap!"...literally.  Remembering to mark the spot where one has buried his/her "treasures" to await the tidal flush would be very much appreciated by those of us who follow...

...have you ever noticed how much time you spend looking at your campmates' backsides on these trips...

...the two guys in the cruiser were quite unexpected.  Crab and beer...had a great chat in the rain and lots of stories...

...kayaked with the whales this afternoon...if you sit still you can feel the vibration of their calls through the hull of the kayak...it goes right through you!

...sushi night was incredible...terrific idea to include some Japanese cuisine...kind of like a team building workshop.  Very thoughtful for Pepi to include menu choices that would appeal to Toru...

...whales are very active tonight...counted 35 consecutive fluke "slaps" from one whale alone...amazing sound as it reverberates across the water...

Sunset Over Glacier Bay

...was up very early today and spent a couple of hours sitting on the rocks watching the whales and sea lions and reading my book...fog rolled in just as everyone got up and it cooled off pretty quick.  Pepi noticed me shivering a little and, before I could get another layer, grabbed his sleeping bag and wrapped me up...gotta love attentive guides...guess I'll have to let him off the hook for trying to do me in at the beginning of the trip...

...cheesecake was great tonight...favourite dessert so far...

...went beach combing after we arrived at the campsite on Hoonah Island.  Found the remnants of what Pepi thinks was probably a logging camp...found a number of smaller items that were identified as fittings from wooden boats...put them back where I found them for someone else to discover...
